Originally launched in New York in 2010, the Imagination Playground is a series of larger-than-life, light-weight building blocks which kids can use to construct, create and invent.
It is designed to let kids do what comes to them naturally - work together to build a structure, tear it down, and start again, while also encouraging creativity, self-expression and important problem solving skills.
The blocks are made of a light-weight, non-toxic foam, which is mould, water, heat and sun resistant, making it idea for the Top End's tropical seasons, while the single colour makes for more imaginative play without distraction or competition.
Available in over 40 countries worldwide, the Imagination Playground uses unstructured learning through play methods, putting kids in charge and letting them establish their own rules.
It was designed and developed by award winning architect David Rockwell, with thousands of sets in uses across the globe in a wide range of environments from schools and community centres to parks, day cares and hospitals.
The set is available to loan to Palmerston based community organisations, schools and child care centres, and packs easily into the supplied trailer.
The Imagination Playground is available to book online.
