Decorations are going up and the festivities have began, with a number of free community events and activities for residents to enjoy and be a part of this holiday season.

Palmerston Carols I Saturday 30 November, 5-7.30pm I Palmerston Recreation Centre

Join us for a night of Carols and Christmas cheer hosted by Amy Hetherington, with local performers and school groups singing a variety of festive favourites.

There will be kids’ activities, food stalls and the opportunity to meet Santa in his Grotto between 5.00pm-6.00pm, before the carolling commences at 6.00pm.

Palmerston Tree Lighting I Friday 6 December,  6.45-7.30pm I Goyder Square

Join us as we turn on the lights of the City’s Christmas Tree for the festive season.

Bring the family and enjoy carols and share in the Christmas magic, with live entertainment by Lilla Wellington and taiNTed theatre company. 

This year, City of Palmerston are supporting the Salvation Army’s Christmas Appeal by encouraging people to bring along a new, unwrapped gift, if they can, to place under the tree. The Playshack and Event Cinemas are also showing their support and will be giving away a voucher for each donated gift received (available while stocks last).

All gifts donated will be distributed to families in Palmerston by The Salvation Army NT Palmerston Corps.

Drag Queen Storytime I Saturday 14 December, 10-11am I Palmerston Library

Families of all descriptions are invited to join the City of Palmerston Library and Drag Territory for a glittery, tinselly, festive Storytime event! 

Enjoy the magic of stories and music, meet the queens, get your photo taken and sign up for a library card all in one magical morning.

All ages welcome, with no bookings required.

All activities are free and start at 2.00pm daily. 
Movies show are for all ages, craft activities for 5-12 years.

Free parking

City of Palmerston offers free parking in its city centre all year round. Make sure to grab your free ticket from the parking meter to display in your vehicle and shop, dine and play locally.
