Young people aged 10-17 years were provided an opportunity through Council’s Art Jam: Journal Project to capture their ideas, thoughts and feelings during the COVID-19 situation. The project provided them with a kit to be used how they wished to express themselves, this could be through text or art. The kits included a sketchbook, pencil packs and suggestions on how to use the journal.
It looks like it will be a great program, with all journals now allocated. Council has also provided kits to youth organisations to share this opportunity with disadvantaged youth. Photos of their creations can be sent to Council to go into a weekly draw to win a science or art kits. This encourages young people to continue to be creative and provides opportunities for creative expression while at home.
Submitted art journals will be showcased at a possible future exhibition.
