International Women's Week

International Women's Week

International Women's Day (IWD) has occurred for well over a century with the first gathering held in 1911. IWD is held annually on 8 March and celebrates the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.

To celebrate IWD, City of Palmerston along with partners, are holding a week-long program of events from 8 March -12 March. Please join us as we honour the achievements of women both past and present and come together to raise awareness about gender equality.

Did you know?
Purple, green, and white are the colours of International Women's Day? Purple signifies justice, green hope, and white purity.
