Council Departments
Council has two departments - Corporate & Community Services and Technical Services.
Corporate and Community Services:
Corporate and Community Services has two work teams:
Corporate Services includes Finance, Human Resources, Records Management, Information Technology and Front Counter Customer Service.
Community Services has three main sections:
Library and Information Services includes the Palmerston City Library, Community Information Officers, and Kids Action Time. Library membership is open to all Territorians.
Community Development includes the Youth, Recreation, Community and Cultural Development Officers. The section also brings in project officers for specific projects, such as an Indigenous Development Officer.
Communications looks after major events, publications, public relations and media liaison.
Technical Services:
Technical Services has two main sections:
Operations and Development is responsible for maintaining parks and gardens, Council owned infrastructure (such as community centres and roads), rubbish collection and environmental management. In the Northern Territory, Council's do not administer planning and development applications.
Ranger Services looks after legislation, regulations and bylaws relating to Palmerston. This includes traffic management, animal management, signage and public places.
