Palmerston Council boasts 107 parks scattered throughout our municipality 39 contain playgrounds with various other facilities such as BBQ's and lakes dotted throughout.

Our largest and most spectacular would be Marlow's Lagoon off Erlundie Avenue.  This park really is outstanding with Mosaic paths, plenty of swings and play equipment for kids, BBQ's and undercover areas; not to mention the lily's flowering in the lagoon and all the green spaces to relax and unwind.

Council maintains Marlow Lagoon Reserve. The Lagoon is mowed every fortnight. Irrigation is by automatic telemetry and is set to come on Monday to Friday. The Lagoon Park area is not irrigated during weekends.

Should a resident wish to hold a party/wedding or such at Marlow Lagoon Reserve - a booking is advised for Council information, we are then able to advise the resident if something else has already been booked. Bookings can be done with the Parks Supervisor. A 'Permit to use Marlow Lagoon' is required for any vehicle access, tent erection, tables or chairs being set up. These are available at the City of Palmerston Office or through the Forms and Permits and need to be submitted at least two working days prior to entry. There is no fee associated with this permit, however a $200 refundable deposit is required as a bond against vehicle access and damage to any Council property ie sprinklers through tent pegs. An inspection is undertaken before and after use of the facilities, should any damage be found Council would notify the police who will charge for damage. It should be noted that Council is unable to grant exclusively to any part of Marlow Lagoon and cannot stop members of the public using certain areas or rotundas.

Note: No permits are issued during the wet season. (Ground will be wet and boggy and will be damaged too much by vehicular access).
