Mayor Abbott sends off cyclists around Australia

Four daring adventurers set off from Darwin today on their bicycles to ride 18,000 kilometres around the Australian mainland before returning to Darwin in December.

The cyclists from LIFE (Living in Full Euphoria) stopped into Palmerston, before setting off on the rest of their journey.

Mayor Ian Abbott was on hand to wish them well on their journey and said: “The City of Palmerston is honoured to have the LIFE team drop by our great city, and we’re very proud to support the guys as they take on this mammoth task.”

The LIFE team were able to drop by during the City's Sustainability & Healthy Communities Display, as part of celebrations for Sustainability Week & World Environment Day.

LIFE Cyclist, Nick Scaife explained, “We are undertaking this trip because we love this lifestyle. We’ll be spending time in new surroundings and experiencing everything Australian nature has to offer. On top of that, we’re doing it for a good cause to protect what we all find so valuable in the process.”
