Australian Safe Communities Foundation Designated Safe Community

As a designated International Safe Community (ISC) the City of Palmerston’s Safe Communities Program is driven by the identification of issues relating to the community through data, consultation and strategic long term planning; in line with the seven (7) key indicators of a safe community.

Safe communities have:
Indicator One - An infrastructure based on partnership and collaborations, governed by a cross sector Group that is responsible for safety promotion in their community
Indicator Two - Long-term, sustainable programs covering genders and all age, environments, and situations
Indicator Three - Programs that target high-risk groups and environments, and programs that promote safety for vulnerable groups
Indicator Four - Programs that are based on the available evidence
Indicator Five - Programs that document the frequency and causes of injuries
Indicator Six - Evaluation measures to assess their programs, processes and effects of change
Indicator Seven - Ongoing participation in national and international Safe Communities networks
