City of Palmerston

x3 Ladies walking dog near lake

Walking is the number one activity most Australians adults do on a regular basis. Walking is so popular because it is suitable for people of all ages and fitness levels. It can be done just about anywhere and is free. Walking also has a very low risk of injury, as it is low impact (not jarring on the joints) and doesn’t require any special equipment or training. People can talk while they walk so it’s a great way to get to know your neighbours and your neighbourhood.

Palmerston offers plenty of green outdoor space and many kilometre’s of walking and cycle paths. Click on the links for a walking and cycle map or for more information on Exploring Your City.

Walking Groups - Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest network of free community-based walking groups, led by volunteer Walk Organisers. City of Palmerston is an Area Coordinator for Heart Foundation Walking. Click here to find a walking group near you.
