Initially established in August 2011 the COPAL program is coordinated through the City of Palmerston and works with the community to create all kinds of ways to enjoy healthy eating and to have fun being active.
COPAL supports Palmerston children, through their families and communities, to be healthy now, and stay healthy for life. The program works with children’s biggest influences – family, friends and peers across the places where children live, learn and play. The way COPAL comes to life in Palmerston depends on the input, needs and priorities of the community. COPAL then works closely with local organisations to support you with ideas, information, activities and changes within your community that make healthy choices easier for you and your family.
Every twelve months, a new theme around healthy eating or physical activity will be provided to help you make healthy choices in your life. This might be a message about taking opportunities to walk, scoot or ride to schoo,l the park or the shops or a message about how tasty, quick and easy a healthy brekky can be. As well as activities around the current theme, COPAL continues to support the community in a variety of other areas identified to help make healthy choices easier.
So look out for COPAL around Palmerston - there will be opportunities for everyone.
